Last week was super busy and this week is turning out to be the same. We have been having major girl problems in my classroom. We just can't all seem to get along, but I guess that will happen when you have 12 girls out of 16 students. Somedays I feel so bad for my 4 boys, they just can't deal with the drama sometimes. So, we are working on being more kind to each other. Thanks to some great suggestions from fellow teachers I downloaded Rachel Lynette's friendship task cards (which are FREE) and scheduled our first "girl's lunch" last week. I am very lucky to have an awesome student teacher this semester so he took my boys to eat in the cafeteria and the girls and myself stayed in the classroom. I plan on working on one task card each time we meet during lunch on Thursdays. I am really hoping this will help with the meanness we have been showing. If you have any tricks or tips that have worked with mean girls in your classroom I would LOVE to hear them!
I also just finished my Clovers, Coins and Common Core pack! I know it's a day late to the sale but, it is available in the store right now! I really sat down and thought about what my kiddos needed to work on the most when creating this packet (which is why a lot of activities included addition and subtraction facts) and all activities are aligned to the 2nd Grade CCSS. Click on one of the pictures below to check it out on TPT and get a list of all the centers, games and activities included.
Leave a comment (and your e-mail address) for a chance to win a FREE copy of this new pack. I will announce a winner tomorrow night!
We also began out Flat Stanley Project 2.0 presentations today and some cute pictures are coming soon. We are having a great time traveling around the world!

I feel your pain...girls can be awful. I remember my fourth grade girls having lots of drama back in the day. Seem it is starting earlier these days.
ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to win your newest packet.

Girls can be so tough in the classroom! I don't know if your guidance counselor is of any assistance, but mine would often work with them in a small group and it helped :)
ReplyDeleteThe new pack looks fabulous!

OH no! I always have a boy filled class and it's a nightmare. This year I got a nice mix which is refreshing. I never even imagined the troubles that would come along with a girl filled class!
ReplyDeleteYour unit looks awesome! I can't get my hands on enough common core aligned resources :)

I have a classroom full of weird dynamics this year.. And sadly one girl that everything leads back too. I like the idea of having lunch together, I may have to try this!

looks great. I would have my girls -- every time they would say or do something negative they had to replace it with 3 positives. It took some time but it eventually worked.
