Freedom and more!

You can tell that I am not in grad. school when I just can't stop creating!!  I have been a making machine lately. Unfortunately my classes started yesterday for this semester so that is about to slow down considerably.  I wanted to share some new things I posted over the weekend, and yes I am officially obsessed with chevron.  I think it's pretty serious.  You can click on any of the pictures to check them out on TPT.

I am pretty excited about this HUGE 96 page packet!  It has the next 4 weeks of ELA centers, games and activities that focus on the theme of Freedom.  Even though I am pretty organized I haven't been 4 weeks ahead in...well I can't ever remember when.   Since MLK day is on Monday, it's perfect to kick-off next week!  I do give a list of suggested text (a.k.a stories I plan on using) but the activities are generic except for the Magic Tree House Civil War on Sunday Comprehension Questions and they could be used with any MLK or Ruby Bridges book. Here's what I'm planning for main main story each week if you're interested:

Week One: Magic Tree House Civil War on Sunday

Week Two: Martin Luther King Jr.

Week Three: Ruby Bridges

Week Four: Freedom Summer

I center my literacy block around these texts and then bring in leveled readers and other books from the library that fits the theme and also read a Scholastic Reader once a week in whole group as well (have you seen the digital editions?? They are fantastic, my kiddos love the videos and games!).
